This church is decommissioned. It is closed since February 2011. The parochial church council reluctantly made the decision to close the church because of the scale of the £40,000 repairs needed to bring its electrical system up to date.

I used to frequent this place (with my gf)in the early 80's.. Top nightclub back in its day, but became a mecca for the gay-scene in later years so I heard..

During the late seventies and into early eighties it was a nightclub that played really good music. My brother used to work around the corner at the Christopher hotel and we had many a fun night that would start or end at bog island.

visited this pub reluctantly with friends as it used to be awful! What a transformation!! Beuatifully refurbished and a lovely open fire. Great real ale for my friend and a lovely selection of wine for me. Its cosy and very friendly and welcoming - will definately re-visit.

Work has started on renovating this pub,for private or commercial use remains to be seen but at least something is being done, all over the country pubs are being left empty by big brewery's who can afford it and don't care what state of disrepair the buildings get to.
